- The Aquarist I for the Fish and Herpetology department will provide advanced knowledge and care for aquatic animals including amphibians, fish, and invertebrates.
- They will clean and maintain aquarium exhibits and perform life support maintenance on all systems.
- The Aquarist I will prepare animal diets and feed according to established procedures and be responsible for the day to day maintenance of life support systems and water quality perimeters in assigned area.
Additional duties include but are not limited to:
- Ability to identify species in the collection and understand the taxonomy of those species.
- Assist with the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures in assigned work areas.
- Assist in design and set-up of displays.
- Plan and direct the work of volunteers in primary areas of responsibility.
- Communicate procedures and work duties to support staff when absent.
Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in marine biology or related field from four-year college or university with any combination of education and experience that would produce the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Valid Texas Driver's License with insurable driving record.
- First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification O2 Administration Open Water SCUBA Certification
