Assistant Manager - Dolphin Production

The Assistant Manager of Production is responsible for assisting the Director and/or Manager of Production in the daily operation and maintenance of all aspects of the Department including stage management, costume & props, audio/video, lighting/special effects and performance for Production, Entertainment and Special Events and other Guest Programming as required. The main responsibilities include stage managing productions, supervising the daily operation of the Venues, and helping to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the Department. Additionally, they will provide rehearsal and maintenance support as needed for shows and special events and assist in the Administration of the Production Department to include, but is not limited to, scheduling, time and attendance keeping, and staff mentoring, coaching and evaluation.                   

Responsibilities:
Production & Operations: 
  • Supervision of team members as related to the daily operation and maintenance of the Venues and/or Special Events, or other Guest Programming.
  • Function as Venue Coordinator/ Manager on Duty for the Entertainment Venues or other Special Events/ Guest Programming--and their related rehearsals, as well as any scheduled maintenance/work calls, as required.
  • Accurately call the show cues and file daily reports.
  • Assist the Director of Production and the Manager of Production in keeping accurate, up-to-date, and comprehensive records.
  • Assist the Director and the Manager of Production with the ongoing selection, coaching, mentoring, and evaluation of Production team members.
  • Perform other functions incidental to show operations, which may include administrative functions, other technical duties, learning and operating show tracks, or general production assistance as needed/required.
  • Assist in the execution and maintenance of strict quality control over the original design and creative vision/intent for all productions, special events and other programming.
  • Assist, as required, in the daily operation and maintenance of all aspects of the various production areas for the Venues, Special Events and other Guest Programming.
  • Participate in and support load-ins, turn-a-rounds and strikes as needed/required.
  • Support all other production/ In-house departments as needed/required.
  • Serve as a liaison between the production staff and animal training /Zoo Ops teams.
  • Cross-train into other departmental operating positions as needed to provide back-up support to cover scheduling deficiencies.
Rules and Regulations:
  • Adhere to established rules for ensuring the safety of the performers and the living collection.
  • Enforce and adhere to all rules and regulations of the company including but not limited to those outlined in the employee handbook or other documentation.
  • Enforce and adhere to all health and safety standards and regulations.
  • Enforce and adhere to all facility/building codes.
  • Enforce and adhere to OSHA regulations and safety procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum (3) years’ experience in live entertainment and event management.
  • Possess basic knowledge of all aspects of producing and running a live theatrical or special event production.
  • Some knowledge of Lighting, Audio, Video consoles and Wardrobe Operation is preferred.
  • Possess strong office computer skills; specifically: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Outlook.
  • Ability to kneel, lift, and carry heavy equipment, work in confined spaces and at heights above 25’ and/or on various lifts, booms, and ladders.
  • Ability to swim.
  • Creative thinking and troubleshooting skills.
  • Professional Appearance & Demeanor.
  • Possess the highest level of motivation, pride in work and leadership.
  • Remain flexible and available to work long hours, as needed, on a potentially fluctuating schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • College degree or equivalent professional work experience.
