The Director of Sales & Revenue Programs is responsible for managing and optimizing revenue products and programs, including third party operators, industry partners, and public & private events.
Essential Position Functions
- Manage annual sales plan; establishing goals that are achievable and supportive of Aquarium revenue and attendance growth
- Create and implement successful domestic and international group and tourism sales plans to meet or exceed sales and attendance goals
- In conjunction with culinary partner SSA, create and implement successful private event sales plans to meet or exceed sales and attendance goals
- Recommend ways to leverage sales strategies and enhance existing programs that will increase revenue
- Work with Director of Business Intelligence on strategic pricing to ensure a competitive product in both private event sales and group and tourism sales
- Research emerging trends to aid in recommending new business solutions and growth strategies
- Develop relationships in the hospitality and tourism industry locally that strengthen the familiarity and position of The Florida Aquarium in the community, to include Visit Tampa Bay, The Sports Commission, local chambers, local chambers and others as appropriate
- Represent the Aquarium by attending tradeshows, conferences and sales missions (IPW, Huddle, etc.) to generate new leads, sales and Aquarium awareness
- Conducts site inspections, venue tours, and hosts familiarization trips with targeted clients when needed
- Manage implementation of special projects in partnership with internal departments
- Understand and utilize market research, financial data and statistical data to identify growth strategies and revenue management improvement opportunities that will advance business objectives
- Build strong relationships with Aquarium leadership to support growth of existing sales strategies
- Develop and implement request for proposal (RFP) documentation required when necessary
- Mentor, coach and counsel Business Innovation Coordinator, and other sales team members as assigned
- Develop and maintain communication through all internal departments to ensure effective working relationships among Aquarium team members
- Perform other duties and lead special projects as assigned or required.
- Education Requirements, Abilities and Technical Skills
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Five to eight years sales and event experience in hospitality/ tourism/ attraction industry
- Self-motivated, focused and must be able to foster a team and collaborative environment
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
- Strong leadership, organizational, process improvement and relationship management skills and the ability to mentor and lead junior staff
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Software
- Knowledge of CRM systems
- Multi-lingual a plus
