Job Summary:
  • This position is designed to be an ambassador for the Aquarium through a variety of on-site and off-site educational programs. Duties include participating in offsite outreaches, member programs, supporting daily education and interpretive programs and engaging with guests.
Essential Functions:
  • Adhere to the South Carolina Aquarium Policies
  • Provide an exceptional visitor experience for all guests
  • Engage guests through daily shows, guided tours, and gallery interpretation
  • Participate in outreach programs
  • Assist in member and community programs
  • SCA 1st Responder
  • Other duties as required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Outstanding interpretive skills
  • Ability to work with audiences of all ages
  • Must be able to give interpretive talks to groups of 10-200 people
  • Skills needed to combine creativity, enthusiasm, and exemplary teaching methods to engage visitors in science related activities
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must be a team player and self-motivated
  • Ability to maintain a sense of humor
  • Must be able to handle live animals
  • Professional image required
  • Must have a working knowledge of Aquarium exhibits and animals
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings
Licenses and Certifications Required:
  • Valid Driver's License
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED - Required to either possess or obtain prior to start date

  • N/A
Physical Requirements:
  • Often standing, carrying up to 50 lb and driving,
  • sitting;

Working Conditions:
  • Normal office environment,

Experience Required
  • Education and Experience Required:
