Loveland Living Planet Aquarium (LLPA) is a mission-driven institution dedicated to inspiring people to explore, discover, and learn about Earth’s diverse ecosystems. Founded in 1997, the Aquarium provides impactful educational experiences for guests of all ages and backgrounds.
Since opening its Draper, Utah facility in 2014, LLPA has welcomed more than 10 million visitors and delivered over 650,000 educational experiences to students. Home to over 4,000 animals representing 650 species, the Aquarium features immersive habitats from around the world, including coral reefs, kelp forests, the deep ocean, Antarctic waters, tropical rainforests, Asian cloud forests, and Utah’s freshwater ecosystems.
Accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) since 2019, LLPA is in an exciting phase of growth. With the Sam and Aline Skaggs Science Learning Center currently under construction, the Aquarium will soon become the largest in the Mountain West and the fifth largest aquarium in the continental United States, offering expanded opportunities for education, research, and professional impact.
Position Summary:
The Event Sales Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily execution of event sales and personally driving high-value and VIP bookings for Loveland Living Planet Aquarium. This role serves as the department’s primary closer for complex, premium, and strategically important clients while overseeing the sales pipeline and performance of Event Sales team. Operating within the strategic direction, pricing structure, and revenue goals established by the Director of Event Sales & Experiences, the Event Sales Supervisor ensures strong pipeline movement, consistent follow-up, high conversion rates, and exceptional client service. This is a hands-on sales leadership role requiring both personal production and team oversight.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary sales leader and top revenue producer for the department
- Ensure revenue targets are achieved through direct selling and team oversight
- Re-engage stalled opportunities and implement strategies to maximize close rates.
- Personally manage and close VIP clients, corporate accounts, premium weddings, and high-revenue opportunities
- Lead negotiations and serve as the primary sales contact for complex or sensitive accounts
- Conduct venue tours, presentations, and follow-up communications for priority prospects
- Oversee the day-to-day event sales pipeline to ensure timely responses, accurate proposals, and consistent follow-up
- Assign and funnel leads to Event Sales Coordinators based on event scope, complexity, and workload capacity
- Monitor inquiry flow, proposal turnaround times, and booking pace to maintain strong pipeline health
- Coach and support Event Sales team to improve responsiveness, proposal quality, and closing effectiveness
- Conduct routine pipeline review meetings and provide tactical guidance to move opportunities forward
- Serve as the escalation point for sales-related client issues
- Ensure CRM data accuracy, including lead source tracking, revenue projections, activity documentation, and next steps
- Maintain disciplined sales processes and ensure compliance with established sales standards
- Collaborate with the Director of Event Sales & Experiences to provide accurate booking forecasts and identify emerging sales trends
- Escalate risks, large-scale opportunities, or strategic accounts to the Director as appropriate
- Ensure smooth transition of booked events to the operations team through complete documentation and clear internal communication
- Maintain accountability for overall pipeline health and revenue forecasting accuracy
Required Qualifications
• 4–6+ years of progressive event sales, hospitality sales, or venue-based revenue experience
• Demonstrated personal sales production and closing success
• Experience handling high-value or complex client accounts
• Experience mentoring or leading sales staff preferred
• Strong CRM proficiency and disciplined pipeline management skills
• Excellent negotiation, presentation, and client communication abilities
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent opportunities in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment & Schedule
- Primarily office-based with regular time in Aquarium event spaces for tours and client meetings
- Some evenings/weekends may be required based on tour scheduling, client needs, and peak sales periods (typical of venue/hospitality sales roles)
