The Financial Analyst will be responsible for financial and operational analytics, reporting, monthly results analysis and assist in budgeting and forecasting. This candidate must have very strong accounting and financial statements proficiencies and be very comfortable with complex modeling and trend analysis. The ideal candidate should have experience in long-term planning and documenting of processes. This position will need to be able to interact with all levels within the organization as well as external vendors and be able to communicate effectively both in-writing and orally.
Responsibilities
- Analysis – share in the responsibility of performing financial and business analysis for revenue, expense, personnel metrics, capital projects and attendance. Reconcile actuals to multiple metrics and provide insight to the variance ‘why’. Assist in quarterly and annual account examination and adjust balances as needed. Work closely with accounting, procurement and department owners to understand transactions and future predictions.
- Reporting – manage daily, weekly and monthly standard financial and operational reporting. Complete adhoc reporting needs and data analysis as requested. Compile external reports for board members and key stakeholders.
- Budgets & Forecasts – lead and maintain the budget and forecasting cycles. Run consistent scenario analysis to predict trends and assist in long-term planning. Assist in managing the budget software to include workflows, user management, template design, reporting and consolidation. Identify opportunities for more precise predictions and efficiencies.
- Modeling – manage complex financial and forecasting models to foster accurate calculations. This should include complex Excel competencies, formulas and functions.
- Promotion & Event Partner – work with Marketing, Sales & Development team to create and analyze promotions and events that support the organization’s operational and financial goals and priorities.
- Third Party Agreements – responsible for analyzing and ensuring that the revenue received from Third Party relationships is correct and in accordance with contracts and agreements.
- Audits – assist in external audit process which would include compiling data and responding to informational requests.
- Ad Hoc Support – perform other duties as the business and workload necessitates.
Qualifications
- 4-year degree in Finance, Business or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years prior experience at the Financial and Reporting Analyst level.
- Must have experience in developing, documenting and maintaining forecasting models, be skilled in different valuation techniques, including discounted cash flow analysis possess very strong Excel technical abilities and have experience in the use of ERP systems.
- Familiarity with budget software platforms such as Prophix.
- Must be able to effectively communicate both written and verbal, at all levels, both internally and externally of the business and have the ability to explain and discuss financial data with non-financial people in a clear and concise way. Developing key relationships with the other decision makers in the business is essential. These people rely on the incumbent to provide them with accurate financial information, various analytical data as well as appropriate financial advice and guidance in a timely manner.
- Must be able to organize and prioritize multiple work streams, tackle complex challenges and perform to a high standard whilst working towards delivery on various business priorities and deadlines.
