Join the team at our Wildlife Safari Park, where you will care for North America’s iconic wildlife - from bison and elk to wolves, bears, and waterfowl - across 440 acres of woodlands and grasslands. Keepers here play a hands-on role in animal husbandry, enrichment, and conservation breeding programs for species like cheetahs and tigers. This position is located at Lee G. Simmons Conservation Park and Wildlife Safari (16406 N. 292 Street, Ashland, NE 68003) and reports directly to the Supervisor at the Wildlife Safari Park.
Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
- Provide exceptional daily care, feeding, and habitat maintenance for a diverse collection of animals.
- Observe and document animal behaviors and provide daily enrichment.
- Assist in hand rearing animals.
- Maintain organized and well-stocked food preparation and cleaning areas.
- Assist in park projects including habitat improvements and repairs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Applicants must have a valid state drivers license.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
- Bachelors degree in Zoology, Biology, or related field is preferred.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with team members and engage guests.
- Knowledge of animal husbandry for various species.
- Ability to work independently and with others.
- Creativity and innovative to design enclosures and develop engaging enrichment.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Work is done indoors and outdoors; all types of weather and environmental conditions are possible.
- Moderate physical effort is required.
- Exposure to physical risk is possible.
- This position has a variable schedule including weekends and holidays.
- Candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment background check, drug test, negative skin tuberculosis test, and possess a valid driver’s license with a good history.
