Wonders of Wildlife is hiring a Lead Aquarist to join our team. This individual will work under the supervision of the curatorial team and will ensure and promote effective and efficient care of the department's animal collection. This individual will help train and mentor a dynamic group of Aquarist while assisting to manage our Aquatic Holding / Quarantine space. A day in the life of a Lead Aquarist
  • Under the leadership of the curatorial staff, the lead aquarist responsibilities include the primary focus on the day-to-day management of the team and assigned exhibits.
  • Leads act as a mentor to the quarantine staff, manage the internship program for their assigned area, including hiring, and training of new interns.
  • This lead will an active role with acquisitions and dispositions, including up to date ICP's for their assigned area.
  • Participate in weekly vet round meetings, quarterly animal welfare meetings, and follows up on welfare concerns in a timely fashion.
  • Aid in creating action plans for welfare concerns and ensures plan is followed with the team.
  • Actively involved in AZA and other internal and external conservation projects.
