Join our team at the Children’s Aquarium at Fair Park! We’re seeking a hands-on, proactive Maintenance Technician to support both people and animals by ensuring a safe, functional, and fun environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Perform preventative maintenance and general repairs
- Inspect equipment, address safety concerns, and document all work
- Work on projects involving carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and more
- Collaborate with animal care and guest services teams
- Respond to urgent issues to minimize disruptions
- Support sustainability efforts and safety protocols
What You Bring:
- Experience in general maintenance or trades (painting, plumbing, HVAC, etc.)
- Ability to safely use tools and troubleshoot mechanical systems
- Great communication and time management skills
- Willingness to learn and work both independently and in a team
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders, in tight spaces, around wet environments, etc.

Experience Required
- One year + of training, informal experience or in a similar position preferred.
- Ability to adhere to OSHA standards and proper use of personal protective equipment in an aquarium environment required.
- Skilled in troubleshooting mechanical systems and the safe use of tools required.
- Excellent time management skills preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills required.
