Manager in Lost Chambers aquarium is responsible for ensuring healthy and sanitary living conditions, proper nutrition and constant care for all marine animals and exhibits within Atlantis The Palm. Person in this role will supervise a large team of Assistant Managers, Team Leaders and Colleagues and be strongly involved in many programs including but not limited to:
- Inspecting and evaluating the condition of exhibits, aquarium décor and environments
- Ensuring consistent fish health programs are carried out through cross contamination prevention measures, proper diagnostics and fish treatments; and liaising with vet staff as needed
- Overseeing all Quarantine, Husbandry and Dive operations
- Ensuring highest service standards and delivery of 5* guest experience
- Playing an active role in marine education, conservation and research efforts in compliance to AZA standards
- Communicating effectively with Marine & Waterpark Division senior leadership by setting expectations, streamlining decision making and building strong relationships with other departments
- Implementing and monitoring written standards and protocols for all exhibits to ensure the highest standards for water quality, operating efficiency, cleanliness and animal health
- Representing the facility at selected conferences and giving media interviews
- Contributing to the budgeting process by managing expenses and revenues
Experience Required
- We're looking for an experienced professional with a degree in Biology, Zoology, Marine Science or related field and/or knowledge and skills equivalent to 6 years aquarium experience and education.
- You should have solid background in managerial capacity and extensive knowledge of local and exhibit animals including species habitat, behaviors, feeding preferences and nutrition.
- Background in a high volume public aquarium with a variety of themed programs and entertainment activites is necessary.
