Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide support in the development and implementation of Texas State Aquarium (TSA) and Institute for Wildlife Care (IWC) marketing/advertising campaigns and plans.
- Coordinate, create, plan and schedule compelling marketing content across Aquarium’s main channels, including digital advertising, print, social media, e-mail marketing, and video as needed.
- Draft press releases, media alerts, newsletters, social media posts, to support Aquarium objectives by working closely with department leadership.
- Duties may include managing branded online presence on the company’s behalf using Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, Google+, blogs, Tik Tok, Threads and others. Under limited supervision, the assistant will provide and post relevant content while tracking metrics and monitoring relevant conversations.
- Attending Aquarium offsite events to help promote the Aquarium’s and Institute for Wildlife Rescue mission (ex. Wildlife rescue sea turtle releases).
- Monitor and respond to social media direct messages, comments and online reviews as needed.
- Create reports on a weekly/monthly basis on key marketing metrics, providing regular performance analysis and recommendations for improvement to manager and outside agencies as needed.
- Graphic design support for collateral materials including graphics for social media, print and digital ads, flyers, website graphics, email marketing, onsite graphics for events as needed.
- Work in collaboration with Aquarium staff, advertising agencies, clients, vendors, influencers, partners and production staff to produce a variety of video, marketing, communications projects and graphics for marketing and advertising.
- Support, coordinate and deliver assets for agencies of record (digital and advertising).
- Create and prepare videos, photos, b-roll and other media assets for internal and external use.
- Act as Aquarium website administrator, creating content changes/additions to website as needed/requested by other departments, and working with IT and digital advertising agency ensuring all information is current, accurate and up-to-date across the website, online and social platforms (ex. Hours or operation).
- Assist with website content development for the Aquarium and its affiliates as needed.
- Support and coordinate on-site and offsite events and opportunities along with the support of the Marketing and Communications and Development teams (ex. Boo! In the Blue)
- Act as a liaison with media, as needed and help coordinate and schedule staff media appearances following proper aquarium procedures.
- Assist with the development of Annual Reports and leadership presentations.
- Organize, update, upload, and archive documents, photos, videos on the Aquarium’s digital asset management platforms.
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Perform recurrent tasks and other duties as assigned.
- Provide exceptional guest service.
- Abide by all policies and procedures outlined in the employee handbook and Animal Husbandry Standard Operating Procedures.
Experience Required
A four year degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related field; or two to three years of related experience and/or training. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also meet the required qualifications.
