Key Responsibilities & Qualifications
Staff Scheduling & Supervision
- Create and manage schedules for event catering and exhibit staff.
- Assign staff responsibilities according to event requirements and staffing needs.
- Supervise employees during events to ensure efficient operations and high-quality service.
- Provide leadership, direction, coaching, and performance feedback to staff.
Inventory Management
- Monitor food, beverage, equipment, and supply inventory.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels and anticipate upcoming event needs.
- Coordinate inventory preparation, delivery, setup, and breakdown.
- Minimize waste while ensuring adequate supplies are available for each event.
Budgeting & Cost Control
- Develop and manage event budgets.
- Monitor event expenses and maintain cost controls.
- Review purchasing and operational expenses to ensure events remain within budget.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary costs.
Event Operations
- Plan and execute catering operations for events and exhibitions.
- Coordinate event setup, food service, staff assignments, guest service, and breakdown.
- Ensure events run smoothly and efficiently from preparation through completion.
- Troubleshoot operational challenges and respond effectively to changing event needs.
- Maintain high standards for food service, cleanliness, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Ordering & Vendor Coordination
- Order food, beverages, equipment, and other supplies required for events.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure accurate and timely deliveries.
- Verify orders for quantity, quality, and accuracy.
- Maintain effective vendor relationships and communicate event-specific needs.
Recruitment, Interviews & Orientation
- Participate in staff interviews and assist with hiring decisions.
- Conduct orientations for new employees.
- Train staff on company policies, service standards, safety procedures, and event expectations.
- Provide ongoing coaching and support to promote employee success.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of successful supervisory experience required in restaurant and/or catering operations.
- Strong leadership and management skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and coordinate multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced catering environment.
- Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and customer-service skills.
- ServSafe Manager Certificate required/preferred, as applicable to the position.
Requirements
- Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
- Ability to remain stationary for long periods of time.
- Ability to ascend and descend stairs.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and reach as required to perform job duties.
- Physical strength and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced event and catering environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and event-specific schedules as required.
