MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrate strong interpretive skills and utilize various interpretive techniques through programming.
- Facilitate proper guest interactions with ambassador animals housed in our interactive tanks.
- Conduct programs following a set outline.
- Must be comfortable presenting information to large groups of guests in both formal and informal settings, with the use of a microphone.
- Enthusiastically share facts and conservation messaging with guests in inspiring and meaningful ways.
- Demonstrate strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Must be self-motivated to work independently, as well as disciplined and reliable.
- Perform and adhere to, Herschend Enterprises' Core Values and Newport Aquarium Operations Standards, Policies and Procedures, and Safety Protocols to ensure safe and efficient guest services operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Leadership Team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have strong public speaking skills.
- Must possess a fun, dynamic, and friendly personality.
- Must read, write, and speak the English language (knowledge of other languages a plus).
- Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include weekends, holidays, and evenings.
- Knowledge of marine life a plus.
PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Successful completion of pre-employment background check.
- No history of allergy related to animals or plants, which might interfere with ability to work
- Ability to remain stationary for long periods of time
- Physical strength, including the ability to lift up to 25 pounds
