Position Title:        Staff Accountant

Department:          Accounting & Finance

Classification:        Exempt

Employee Type:     Full Time

Direct Report:        Sr Accounting Manager        

 

Position Summary:

The Staff Accountant is a vital Accounting Department team member responsible for the proper execution of essential accounting tasks including the maintenance of accurate financial records, participation in month-end closes, preparation of journal entries and the reconciliation of various balance sheet accounts.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare monthly general ledger balance sheet reconciliations, track payables and receivables and verify account balances
  2. Ensure that internal financial records perfectly match external bank statements, credit card statements, vendor invoices and third-party payments
  3. Prepare journal entries including the necessary supporting documentation
  4. Assist with the month end closing processes including calculating accruals as well as reviewing account variances and investigating fluctuations
  5. Assist with the annual external financial audit by assembling and gathering audit schedules and support as requested by management
  6. Perform other duties as required

 

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  2. 3+ years of accounting experience
  3. Knowledge of GAAP required
  4. Working knowledge of common accounting software tools and spreadsheet programs including advanced Excel (pivot tables and VLOOKUPs) and modern accounting software with NetSuite being a plus
  5. Above average ability to organize, manage time and set priorities while meeting deadlines
  6. Well-developed problem analysis and resolutions skills
