Columbus Zoo and its Family of Parks is seeking an experienced and dedicated Vice President of Legal Affairs to oversee all legal aspects of the Columbus Zoo, Zoombezi Bay, The Wilds, and Safari Golf Club to ensure that the family or parks, along with the staff and animals in their care are safeguarded and positioned to thrive into the next hundred years supporting our mission in Empowering People. - The Vice President of Legal Affairs will hold a key role within the leadership team, collaborating with management to devise efficient defense strategies, ensuring that our reputation is safeguarded by guaranteeing that the company strictly complies with legal guidelines and gives legal advice to management about all relevant issues for the Columbus Zoo Family of Parks.
- The VP of Legal Affairs will be trusted to provide accurate and timely counsel to executives in a variety of legal topics including labor law, partnerships, international ventures, corporate finance etc.
- They will be tasked with overseeing internal governance policies, researching and advice on any risk factors, leading levy campaign administrative strategies and assisting the human resources team in bargaining unit and union contract negotiations.
- The ideal candidate will have an active license to practice law and be a member of the Ohio State Bar. We are seeking a driven individual with knowledge of non-profit organizations and a full comprehension of the influences of the external environment of a corporation.
- They will have a minimum of 5 years’ proven experience as a Legal Counsel in a business environment.
Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in law or Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
- Active license to practice law and/or membership in the Ohio State Bar.
- 5 years proven experience as a Legal Counsel in a business environment.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures.
- Full comprehension of the influences of the external environment of a corporation.
- Demonstrated ability to create legal defensive and proactive strategies.
- High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
- Sound judgment and ability to analyze situations and information.

Salary
- $146,000-$194,000 annually
