MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform, adhere to, and implement all Herschend Core Values and Newport Aquarium Guest Service Standards, Policies and Procedures, and Safety Protocols to ensure safe and efficient guest service operations.
- Maintain knowledge of activities, aquatic life, and Newport Aquarium special events/promotions in order to properly notify and inform guests.
- Must be self-motivated to work independently, as well as, disciplined and reliable.
- Maintain appropriate guest and team member relations at all times, ensuring guest and team satisfaction.
- Demonstrates strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Responsible for maintaining store cleanliness in accordance with food safety guidelines.
- Responsible for maintaining PCI (Payment Card Industry) compliance.
- Maintain a friendly, respectful, outgoing and proactive approach to guests and team members.
- Perform other related duties or projects as assigned by the Food and Beverage management team.
- Ability and willingness to cross train in other Food and Beverage areas, i.e. Café.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior point of sale experience is a plus.
- Must have strong public speaking skills the ability to read, write and speak the English language (knowledge of other languages is a plus)
- Must be able to think clearly, react quickly, and calmly to changes and/or stressful situations
- Previous guest service or retail experience preferred.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. We will prioritize candidates with availability of a combination of Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Successful completion of pre-employment background check.
- Ability to remain stationary for long periods, ascend and descend floors, bend and reach.
- Physical strength, including the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Note: Position will involve exposure to nut allergens, inclement weather, dust, and potentially dangerous machinery. Personal Protective Equipment including clothing or equipment may be required in some areas.
